Coconut oil and its benefits

My mother is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. She is beautiful inside and out. She can sit next to a woman half her age and she is still the one with the most beautiful skin. People are always asking her what her secret is. All my life she has used natural products that can be found in any of our homes as a part of her beauty ritual.

On this blog, I’m going to share the benefits of coconut oil with you. There’s so much you can do with it.

I’m sure most of you know that cooking with coconut oil has great benefits. You can also use it in your salad dressing and use it on your hair, skin and much more!

You’ll be surprised to find out that coconut oil can be used to highlight your cheekbones. Just put a small amount over your makeup and voila!

You can use it as shaving lotion, combine it with Himalayan crystal salt and use it on  your face each night. You can make it into a wonderful body scrub by combining it with sugar.

Here is the recipe for the body scrub.

You can stop using those expensive make-up removers and just use coconut oil, the bonus is that it makes your eyelashes stronger and longer. And by adding just a few ingredients you can turn it into a natural deodorant. Here is how.

You can also use it to make a great lip balm or lip gloss. Here is how to make ¾ ounces of it.

In a small pot, combine the almond oil, coconut oil and beeswax.  Melt over low heat until everything is liquid and whisk to combine. Remove from the heat and whisk in the essential oil.  Put it in a little pot, let it sit for at least 20 minutes or until it’s firm.

You can also use coconut oil regularly on your baby as a diaper rash cream. If your pregnant just apply it on your belly to prevent stretch marks. Add your favorite scent and use it as massage oil. You can use it as sunburn care, a facial moisturizer and a body  moisturizer. I use it right after my shower. I use it to treat my dry feet, elbows and hair.

To use it as a deep conditioner for your hair just rub a small amount into the ends of your hair, comb through, put it in a loose bun and leave it on overnight. In the morning just wash it off. You can also rub a small amount on your hands and run it through your hair for flyaways and frizzy areas. It’s a great product to use in the winter because this is when we experience a lot of dry skin and hair. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Coconut oil can be used for so many other things. This is a great start. Just make sure when buy a Coconut Oil is organic, extra virgin and cold pressed.

Enjoy and tell me how you like it. I’ll have more great home remedies in my future blogs.

Happy moisturizing!
